Watch the Lamb
Artwork by Francisco de Zurbarán Christ crucified, 1655 Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya I was watching our church’s service online today, and in it we were reminded of the silence...
Below is a very powerful video portraying how some of us live with what is called “first-world problems”. Its impactful because it does it in an unexpected way and has a great point at the end. I’m not asking anyone to donate to the cause, that’s your choice, but rather to think about what this really says.
When Christ was here on the earth, he shared a parable that was very interesting. Jesus talks about two groups of people that will face Him one day, and he says to one of these groups:
Matthew 25:
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Jesus equated helping the “least of these” with actually helping him. When we extend a hand to someone who needs it, we are doing it directly to the Lord.
REVIVE aims to show the character of God to the world not just in words and thoughts but also in action. We’d like to show the character of God by doing things for the people who need it. It could be with the cause below or it could be with something entirely different.
Let us know your thoughts on how we can help “the least of these” in our local community.
